Xfinity is just Comcast rebranding cable internet to seem more competitive with fiber internet (FIOS). Fiber has more throughput than cable. From a use perspective Comcast has much lower upload speeds than FIOS (they allocate more of their limited bandwidth to downloads since that is what most people use) and is prone to slowing down during busy times of the day due to congestion. Structure of their services was also wild. I could have saved $5 or $10 per month for TV and Internet, but would’ve had like 2 tiers lower TV and way lower speed, but they had a ton of incentives to go to gig speed and mid cable package. Saving >$2200 per year with AT&T 1G fiber w/4 mobile phone lines, got $400 promo prepaid cards, and they gave $800 each for 3 Iphone 11s and 1 Oneplus 8T+. Replaced with 3 new iphone 13s and 1 Pixel 6 Pro. Includes free HBOMax (saves us $14.99 per month).
Xfinity's cable box interface is nicer, but it was more expensive than Fios for me. In addition to what others have said, they're both terrible companies generally, but Comcast is usually seen as being a little more terrible. Much to my surprise, AT&T internet at 100Mbps performed like Spectrum at 300 because the speeds are sustained and don't fluctuate like they do on Spectrum. I did the test run on AT&T for 3 solid weeks and it was flawless. It was actually kinda weird not having my internet drop at all for 3 weeks. So then I happily called Spectrum and shit ...That being said, if you have the option of going with AT&T Fiber, I would take that personally. It's only $20/month more than Verizon 5G Home, but you get symmetrical UP/DL with low latency/jitter/packet loss on a consistent basis. On cable you get a great pipe down but limited upload. With Fiber you get consistent variables of upload and download. Xfinity may offer 1000 down but only 200 up whereas fibers for the same offers 1000 up and down. The closer the upload and download speeds the least amount of latency is caused on your end. I live in a major city so I get access to Xfinity and Verizon Fios gig options but strangely no AT&T fiber.
